M.C ESCHER, Joyce, Chu & HYPERBOMBLING

I was excited to hear about YARNBOMBING: the application of YARN to the urban environment with a Graffiti Artists cunning and brandalist's - methods and state-of-mind. The deployment of HYPERBOLIC objects into the urban and the public environment is a challenge for both teachers, governments and artists alike. For me though, some of the street artists and Graffiti painters are most adept and active in casting HYPERBOLIC structures into the public domain using SURPRISE and artistic prowess to deploy such objects.

One graffiti artist, and good friend of mine - in particular - has a direct association and open interest in HYPERBOLIC structures, as mastered by the great Dutch artist: M.C Escher - Who's work is replicated, in part, on the homepage of the Institute for figuring, the artist known as CHU recently made some 'M.C ESCHER tribute' canvases in AEROSOL that show a freehand GRAFFITI interpretation of HYPERBOLA'

Some Impossible lettengineers pay structural tribute to M.C Esher, the streets become a labyrinth of ambiguity.



Some experimental ASTRACTIVISTS use Gurilla-attack systems of Graffiti application and deployment, adding to the information quotent within the "surprise = information" equation. span > CHU's latest TRILOGY are a self-described "tribute to M.C ESCHER and GRAFFITI ARTISTS worldwide." Parts 1 & 2 have been deployed already - we await the 3'rd. I wonder of Waterfalls, cubes, Mobius Strip II?

Graffiti Art turns the modern ART Gallery INSIDE OUT. The streets have become galleries again. With hidden treasure and tales for attentive observers. Publik Big Brother public amuses himself, themself and itself. Most Graffiti Artists have an inbred rejection of faux icons and defend the word-world by perpetually turning things inside out. Outside in, like the experience of witnessing an Escher world view, a kind of HYPERBOLIC experience or a COEX system, as Groff' might say. Retail Activity, the painting by CHU sums up & balances down equations vs. Shopping. Aerosol Graffiti Art becomes indistinguishable from Magic.

In searching for visual metaphors for Joyce's master-built 'Finnegans Wake' the master of impossible objects to the eye - M.C Escher - dances with an isomorphic lurch. Puzzling tesselations in the wake mirror of symmetry. If the word were able to be broken down into the 17 wallpaper - tessilations - then Finnegans Wake would probably be the SPANISH CASTLE MAGIC, or the deployment of wallpapers within a laboratory space of literature, investigating and remixing itself, turning the world inside out, upside down with mathematical precision.



Making the impossible equations of Quantum Mechanics and the newer fields of Cognitive sciences into new MAPS, CHARTS, DIAGRAMS and TOOLS with which to make further readings with, to find the metaprogramer in the infinite flux of being?



Searching for M.C. Escher by name in Finnegans Wake turned up such ESCHER DRAMAS as:

HYPERBOLIC STRUCTURES IN LITERATURE

Douglas Hoffstader and others have published great studies into the synthesis of arts, science and cognitive structures, and so many HYPERBOLIC areas of research are invoked by them, Godel, Escher, Bach' is a perfect example of HYPERBOLIC STRUCTURES connecting within literature, but the 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The hare and the tortoise' story's resonate more with the concept I have of HYPERBOLIC literature, and the page as HYPERBOLIC object?

Finnegans Wake itself, and with the added glossings and footnotes provided by Robert Anton Wilson, seems the closest approximation of HYPERBOLIC structures in literature. There are thousands of books and articles showing how James Joyce encoded - physics philosophy, quantum mechanics and taoism - in to the Wake. Robert Anton Wilson's first published article - Joyce and Daoism - can be found echoing throughout the rest of his great comprehensive contribution to world literature, criticism and humanitarian design science. And a good old belly laugh. RAW's own experiments with literature and quantum mechanics - in works such as the Schroedingers Cat Trilogy - he attains his own HYPERBOLIC structures - based upon some of Joyce's principles, and Korzybski, Claude Shannon, Nietzche, Pound, Yeats, and Buckminster Fuller. Bucky was another HYPERBOLIC artist who was known to be a scientist by most people, but it now seems his ideas and principles were closer to art and music in form, and i might add here, exemplified in the activity of creating HYPERBOLIC CROTCHET models.
